Artists Using the Digitech Whammy
The Digitech Whammy has changed the face of modern guitar playing since its inception. From Tom Morello’s DJ scratching effects to the simulated slide guitar in Page-Coverdale’s “Over Now” the Whammy has brought effects and sounds out of the woodwork that previously required expensive equipment, multiple guitars, even turntables and other non-guitar instruments. The Detune function can perfectly imitate the doubled guitars on the solo for “Money” by Pink Floyd and the 5th up/6th up setting is ideal for creating pedal steel bends and country twang. The octave down/octave up, when used creatively, can add depth to a rhythm and soul to a lead, even imitate artificial harmonics for great soloing and transition work. No other pedal in the world has opened the door to creativity like the Digitech Whammy. Some Digitech Whammy artists include:
- Tom Morello
- Steve Vai
- Joe Satriani
